TENOR OCTAVIO RIVAS
ABOUT
Born in Torreon, Coahuila, Mexico, Octavio Rivas debuted as Alfredo (La Traviata) at the Westminster Choir College in 2017, Canio (I Pagliacci) in 2018 at Hermosillo, Mexico, Ismaele (Nabucco) in Regensburg, Germany in the second half of 2018, and Rodolfo (La Bohème) in 2021 in Torreón, Mexico.
Since 2020 he has been the Associate Director for the Mexico District of the Laffont Competition of the Metropolitan Opera of NY, and, in the second half of 2021, he became director of the Opera Studio of the Institute de Música de Coahuila (Coahuila's Institute of Music).
Finalist and prize winner of the most prestigious Competitions in Mexico, he started his vocal training in Guadalajara, Mexico with Maria Eugenia Magaña. Later he studied in the Escuela Superior de Música at INBA (School of Music of the National Institute of Fine Arts). After that he studied privately with Michael Sylvester, and in 2017 with Sharon Sweet.
Currently he continues his artistic development with Peter Mark.
